TRUMP OPPOSES REMOVING STATUES, FANS THE FLAMES

In three tweets, the president said the history and culture of the country was being "ripped apart" and said efforts to remove statues of Confederate generals Stonewall Jackson and Robert E. Lee could escalate to taking down monuments to George Washington and Thomas Jefferson.

It's becoming  clearer every day which side of the racist v. anti-racist fight Trump is really on.  A woman was murdered. Trump fans the flames, encourages more aggressive action by the white supremacists.  The President should either keep his mouth shut or make some positive calls for peaceful resolutions.  That's what Presidents are supposed to do.  But then, we've never had a president quite like 'the Donald.'

  1. The direct quotes that I have seen of what Trump said made it clear that he was trying to differentiate between the preservationists and the non-Nazi/non-KKK. As usual, the media ignored the effort at pointing out two different mindsets within the larger group.

I've read four completely different "I was there" comments, with videos, of the riot. They differ very much from the media reports as to interpretation and, often, contradict the media.

Seems to me that we're in Heinlein's "Crazy Years". I spend several hours a day browsing all manner of news sources. From local to international. Factual reports and editorial opinions.

Much of it should be labeled "News of the Weird".

  2. Why would preservationists march with neo-Nazis? Did any preservationists state their objections to the media about this. The event was titled "unite the right" Do P's want to unite with neo-Nazis? Did you forget about the murder?
Trump continues to fan the flames and encourage demonstrations by calling Confederate statutes beautiful and that they shouldn't be taken down.
Is this the way to calm things down. Trump has sided with the alt-right and this is tragic

  3. You have it backwards. First came the preservationists. Then came the Nasties. Out of any hundred, I'd bet on 90 Preservationists, 5 KKK and 5 Nazis.

But SCOTUS ruled that Nazis have 1st Amendment rights. Remember Skokie? Same for the KKK, regardless of nastiness.

As an indicator of stupidity and ignorance, notice that the socialistic Antifa yowls against Fascist Nazis, even though "Nazi" is shorthand for National Socialist. And Antifa's behavior is just like Hitler's Brown Shirts or Mao's Red Guard.

The present yowling against the AltRight leads me to ask whether I should categorize all Democrats as evil, because the "corruptionista" Hillary Clinton is a Democrat?

I know of no group wherein all members are perfect.
