Re-evaluating broken-windows policing in New York City

The recent death of a man arrested for selling untaxed cigarettes has caused some to re-think New York City's broken windows style of policing.  The pros and cons are discussed

  1. From reading of the circumstances of what seem to me to be occurrences of police brutality, these appear to come from impatience with recalcitrant "subjects". An over-eagerness to commit to violence. This is separate from the issue of whether or not a particular law should be on the books.
