Expecting the System to Protect You?
Very disturbing case from one of our favorite cities, New Orleans.
Drawing conclusions when so much information is obviously missing from the story is a fool's errand. We know the star is a bad boy, but the decisions to prosecute or not are without explanation or documentation. The TV station gets and "A" for selling through anger incitement and and "F" for thoroughness and balance.
High speed chases all too often result in severe injury or claim the life of innocent victims who unexpectedly found themselves in the way. For this reason, the USBP and California changed their pursuit policies requiring officers to back way off when in densely populated or congested areas. Instead they'll monitor from the air or set-up welcoming committees further down an anticipated destination. Very sad and unfortunate. My sincerest condolences to the young lady's family and close friends.
