ONLY 2 OTHER NATIONS HAVE A CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT SIMILAR TO THE U.S. SECOND AMENDMENT.
Other than the U.S., only two other national constitutions have something similar to the American Second Amendment. Interestingly, these two are Mexico and Guatemala. However, both of these provisions are narrower than the American provision. Over the years, a number of nations repealed their version of the right. It appears that individual gun rights are increasing being sacrificed to government power. It is disturbing to see how few governments trust their own people. See pp. 13 & 38 in the linked document. Socialist wannabe appointees to SCOTUS' high bench would like to rid us of ours.

The keystone of my military oath rested with the Bill of Rights, most notably the 2nd Amendment.
Page 40 tells us about how some critics find the Constitution dysfuntional and antiquated. This discussion over how "obsolete" it has become tells me a lot about the desire of many for more positive rights and thus more government power. Instead of a few pages of principles to live by, we will have volumes of laws as our so-called guiding documents, all of which will be determined by whoever or whatever is politically correct or connected at the time, or perhaps what the opinion polls have to say.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. The irony between anti-gun social progressives and 2nd amendment conservatives is the prior demands reams and reams of big government regulations while doing whatever the heck they want. Much like a very indulged and spoiled rotten child. 2nd amendment conservatives seek limited government while obeying the law. Who's the adult? That's why these socialist wannabes don't like firearms. They're smart enough to know how irresponsible they themselves would be around guns.
DeleteThe cities of Chicago and DC make gun ownership near impossible with new regulations despite Heller and McDonald. Arrogance.
