Mohr blames the 2nd Amendment for a culture of violence. Somehow the right to keep and bear arms makes society violent. Notice it is not actually keeping and bearing arms that he is attacking, but the RIGHT to do so. In his illogical argument, having that right makes our culture violent. By using the same rationale, heated rhetoric can lead to words of intolerance and may incite violence; therefore the First Amendment must go! It allows for speech that can lead to a culture of violence. It is not the actions and words of those speaking, but the RIGHT to do so that is the problem. Hey, I’m just following Hollywood logic.
ReplyDeleteJay obviously had just enough brain matter to be a comedian actor, not a lawyer.
DeleteHam: Good points! Great 1st Amend analogy.
ReplyDelete44: It doesn't take a lot of intelligence, study or education for folks to become legal experts in their own minds. Somehow his status as a minor celebrity automatically makes his arguments rational.
Sometimes I wonder how civil liberties have any chance of surviving in this country with so many wackos ready to repeal portions of the Bill of Rights.
My apology for the ad hominem reply regarding Jay. I do agree with Hamster's comment. His point was well stated.
