A New Gun Rights Issue
FWIW: I don't see this as a crucial issue or even one that will get to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Let's see now? How about the 14th Amendment's "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States ... nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.". That combined with " ...the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.". Sounds like the gentleman in the article has a strong constitutional argument for having a gun regardless of where his feet are planted in CONUS. Article 6s supremacy clause says so. No court interpretation needed here.
