Special anniversary for Newt Gingrich
Jan 21, 1997 – Newt Gingrich becomes the first leader of the United States House of Representatives to be internally disciplined for ethical misconduct. Another ethically challenged politician seeking the Presidency. At least with Newt you know about it up front rather than finding out later. Me? Personally, I'm not desperate enough to support him. I hope S.C. isn't either. What do YOU think about Newt?

Ignoring his past, he is a compelling candidate. He is not afraid to go after liberal targets in a vocal and convincing way.

ReplyDeleteTruth is, I AM! Individual and states' rights, not to mention our once prosperous free market economy, won't survive another four years of Obama's reign. Any republican candidate is better than the current occupant's aspirations for a big bureaucratic socialist nation. We don't need anymore of Obama's czars nor his crony capitalistic nonsense.
jr & 44: Thanks for the comments. Yes, Newt is articulate, intelligent and an excellent debater. Generally, all the Repubs go after liberal targets in a vocal and convincing way. Should we "ignore" his past?
ReplyDeleteGiven the importance of this election, the most important thing is not to get the best debater or the most vocal, intelligent critic or the candidate we agree with the most.
The most important thing for Repubs, conservatives and libertarians is to get an electable candidate--warts and all. In spite of all his stupid moves, IMHO Romney is still the most electable. Remember, there will be a lot more people voting in November than just conservatives, Republicans and Newt fans. IMHO, as I see it now, right or wrong, Newt cannot beat Obama. Perhaps the candidate who looks most ideologically pure to SC Repubs, is not the one who will win.
