The county prosecutor in Cleveland has asked judges to void 40 convictions in cases investigated by three rogue narcotics detectives sent to federal prison for fabricating evidence and stealing tens of thousands of dollars from people they targeted.
Requests to throw out the convictions were made earlier this week. The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor's Office says a review by its Conviction Integrity Unit found 27 cases from the East Cleveland detectives that had been tainted.
Former detectives Antonio Malone and Eric Jones and Sgt. Torris Moore were sentenced earlier this year after pleading guilty to federal conspiracy charges."
