In general, academe is notoriously left-leaning and often authoritarian, including being anti-Second Amendment and dismissive of the First Amendment rights of those with politically incorrect views. Here's another example. His attitude reminds me of the county clerk who is against issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
