BOTH THE RIGHT AND LEFT NEED TO STOP PUSHING IDENTITY POLITICS AND POLITICAL CORRECTNESS
The Wall Street Journal ran an excellent editorial piece yesterday, on liberal identity politics, and the related political correctness and its divisiveness.

(unlike many people I try to avoid the echo chamber and look at reliable news from all across the spectrum. The WSJ is a conservative paper to which I subscribe. How many of you make an effort to avoid the chamber. If you don't you are part of the problem of polarization in this country.)
For instance, it's ridiculous to say that only blacks are fit to write and make movies about blacks in America. Instead of crowing only about how unfit Trump is, the left and all Trump critics (such as this blogger) need to speak up against this divisiveness--of which Trump is just a result and symptom). Minorities will some day be a majority in this country. Until then, they need coalitions, not divisiveness. All of American needs this.
However, the history of identity politics has long been a stock-in-trade of the right in America. For instance, after defeat in the civil war and rights for blacks, The Klan and other white supremacists used it effectively in the South and in the north. Lynchings of blacks were commonplace and celebrated by white mobs. White supremacy is alive and well in the U.S. The current euphemism is 'alt-right.' Neo-Nazis have been propagandizing for decades in the U.S.

Unscrupulous politicans and pastors on both the left and right manipulate their flocks.
One of the worst is Dallas Baptist Church pastor Robert Jeffress (see post below)
