PROPOSAL TO REGISTER ALL FIREARMS
NYT Op-Ed argues for registration of all firearms, including those already owned. The authors feel it would be constitutional. I'm not sure.
That's one way to create a bunch of scofflaws, both knowingly so and unknowing out of ignorance. Plus, it would do nothing whatsoever to reduce the rate of criminal violence involving firearms.
It's about control of the citizenry, not crime.
Again: Nobody has ever been able to show me any law which has served to reduce the rate of violent crimes involving firearms. None.

Agreed, registration would do nothing to lessen crime, and there is no credible evidence that any gun control in the U.S. has reduced crime.
