Not only do too many of us, get caught in echo chambers, what's in those chambers often is not true or greatly twisted. I am disheartened when seemingly well-read. intelligent people, come up with really doubtful stuff. I can't believe how many people are close-minded. Rather than deal with the points and issues others raise, they provide knee-jerk responses, and refuse to address the points made.
There are fact-check websites available. Some are clearly going after their opponents, but seem to be at least honest. Some appear to be non-partisan.

Read a variety of sources, beware of publications sponsored by think tanks, Foundations, etc. Check the backgrounds of authors, look at book reviews of the book, etc.
