The Tea Party has had a major impact on politics in the U.S., esp. the Republican Party. This book, Poison Tea, is a critical look at that movement. It suggests that it is basically a front for corporate interests and the wealthy.

Corporate interests may be claiming to be Tea Party types, but real-world Tea Party people who are fed up with Big Nanny Government, excessive regulation and the high total of taxes accumulated at all levels of government.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the comment. Every political movement has a wide variety of adherents. Many tea party types are as you describe. Unfortunately, writers and bloggers tend to focus on one aspect of a complex reality. There is a lot I like about the tea party. Limited government, careful spending etc.
