3 Important Upcoming Supreme Court
The U.S. Supreme Court has already decided on some of the cases it will tentatively hear when its term starts early next month. Three important ones, involving the First and Fourth Amendments are discussed here.
Re venting: I recall discussion about death threats where it was said that absent means to kill, a death threat was meaningless and not actionable under the law.
Caveat: "The next time I see you, I'm gonna kill you!" can create a problem. A century or so back, a man so threatened William Cowper Brann. The man was later remorseful and went to Brann's house to apologize. Big mistake. Brann had faith in the man's word, and defended himself with a shotgun. No prosecution...
Point very well made Art. My occupation has taught me that any threats of physical violence to myself or others is not to be ignored. It would have been wise for the man to ask a mutual friend or local peace officer to offer his apology to Brann.
