The author's historical account presented an objective perspective about early America's darkest chapter. It fit well my own recollections of a southern culture as experienced through past visits with extended family in Alabama's capital city. As a child, I found many of the ugly stereotypes regarding non-whites still prevalent. You'd be hard pressed today to find such negative attitudes among young southerns. I don't know nor care about MLK's private affairs.
